7 Day Itinerary

Roman Footprints 7 day full itinerary breakdown and route map

Day 1

Get ready, it’s time for your adventure to begin in Croatia’s second largest city - Split! This ancient spot on the Adriatic coast has plenty of beautiful sights on offer and after checking in, head out to explore them. Why not venture to the sprawling complex of Diocletian’s Palace, which houses a military garrison in addition to being Diocletian’s residence? Exploring is hungry work, so head out for some authentic Croatian grub in one of Split’s many fantastic eateries (we recommend Uje Oil Bar for a truly exceptional experience). Be prepared to sample all the delicious Dalmatian delicacies of this coastal paradise like seafood, lamb peka, and cevapcici, washed down with a glass of local wine. Once you’ve had your fill, celebrate the start of your adventure in a local bar and soak up the riveting Croatian nightlife!

Day 2

Split to Venice

It’s time to say farewell to Split, as we make tracks this morning towards our next destination: vibrant Venice! Settle back into the coach and enjoy the views as we journey to the bustling Italian coast. Early this evening we’ll make your arrival and have some time to relax and stretch out by the pool. Later, enjoy the included traditional Italian dinner at the accommodation site. Pasta, pizza, lasagna - what will it be? Breakfast included Dinner included

Day 3

Fuel up for the day with some breakfast at the accommodation before shuttling over to the island of Venice! Peel yourself away from the tourist attractions and see the city as the locals do by getting lost in the narrow, cobblestone streets. If you fancy some unbeatable views of the city, head over to San Giorgio Maggiore and climb the bell tower, or spend some time in the Cannaregio district to escape the crowds. For a truly authentic Aperol Spritz and some beautifully delicious cicchetti, seek out Bacaro Risorto for an evening of good vibes and even better food. Breakfast included

Day 4

Venice to Bologna

Wave goodbye to Venice, as we climb back aboard our coach for a short drive to Bologna. A couple of hours later and we’ll be checking into our accommodation, ready for a stroll of the Old Town. Venture to the Torre Prendiparte, a thirteen story, 900-year-old prison turn bed and breakfast, and marvel at the ancient structure. During the day you’ll stumble across the city’s piazzas and palaces, not to mention stalls filled with all kinds of delicious products - everything from fresh seafood, to seasonal fruit and delicious sweets. Save some room in your belly though, as tonight we’ll head out for an included dinner at a local trattoria where you can sample the speciality of the town: spaghetti bolognese, chased down by a glass of vino! Breakfast included Dinner included

Day 5

Get out there and explore all the hidden gems of this lively city. Discover Finestrella di Via Piella for a view of humble canals, venture to the sleepy hamlet of Dozza to check out the phenomenal street art, or find your way to the Carpigiani Gelato Museum to indulge your sweet tooth. If you’re feeling active, take a hike through the surrounding hills or walk up to the San Luca Sanctuary. In the evening, you’re welcome to meet up with your guide and fellow passengers for a visit to Eataly: the world’s biggest food market! Breakfast included

Day 6

Bologna to Rome

Enjoy the scenic Italian countryside this morning as we cruise towards Rome where we’ll arrive later this afternoon and check in to our accommodation. Board a shuttle and head into the city to get yourself acquainted with the rich, history-stained streets. Visit St. Paul’s Outside the Wall to see an authentic catholic pilgrimage spot or hop on a tram to the Coppede district, Rome’s smallest district choc-a-bloc full with incredible architecture and picturesque views. Tonight join us as we wrap up the adventure with a wander and optional dinner in Trastevere. Arguably the most charming area in Rome, it’s filled with narrow, cobbled streets and piazzas, with a small village feel. This is where you can find Rome’s most traditional wine bars, so let’s make a toast to an epic week and go out in style! Breakfast included

Day 7

All good things must come to an end. Enjoy some breakfast before the tour wraps up, and say farewell to your Busabout family. We hope to see you again soon! Breakfast included
