This Christmas, discover all the jingles and bells of Eastern Europe, and show Santa you’ve been a good little traveller. Stuff your stockings in the markets of Krakow and Vienna, get merry under the mistletoes in the parties of Prague and Krakow, and ski down the white slopes of Zakopane as fast as a red-nosed-reindeer. Even if you’re a little bit naughty, we’ll make sure Santa’s little helpers give you a good gift!

11 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Krakow
Your adventure begins this morning on the banks of the Vistula River, in historic Krakow. Meet with your fantastic Busabout guide and head out for an included walking tour of one of Poland’s oldest cities to get your bearings and highlight the numerous sights on offer in this impressive cultural hub. We have no scheduled plans for this afternoon so head out and explore the town, head out to the massive Main Market Square and get lost in the myriad of sights, sounds, and smells in the Christmas Market. While you’re out grab a delicious local meal for lunch and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. This evening we offer an optional, authentic Polish dinner followed by a welcome party for all. Join us for a few drinks and get to know your fellow passengers in a relaxed environment!
Day 2: Krakow
Spend the day exploring the city’s sights at your leisure or join us for an optional excursion. Today we offer an optional trip to the impressive Wieliczka Salt Mine. Once a commercial salt mine, it has been inoperable since the mid ‘90s and features cavernous chapels carved out below the surface and a plethora of statues and incredibly intricate artworks carved directly into the rock salt walls. For those looking to explore the darker history of WWII we offer a tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau from Krakow. This evening head out into the night to experience the vibrant nightlife of this Polish gem.
Day 3: Krakow to Zakopane
We make our morning departure heading towards the mountains and our Christmas destination, the winter wonderland of Zakopane. We arrive at the foot of the Tatra Mountains at around lunchtime and check in to our new digs. There is an optional orientation walk of the town to better help you acclimate to your new surroundings before heading out to explore and grab a bite to eat for lunch. In the late afternoon we gather to enjoy a delicious traditional Polish Christmas Eve feast at the hotel followed by some festive fun and games with your fellow passengers late into the evening.
Day 4: Zakopane
Merry Christmas! In the spirit of giving, the whole day is yours to enjoy as you please with the option of joining us for an excursion to the slopes for some skiing and snowboarding. Set your own pace as you explore the myriad of winter activities on offer in Zakopane including snowmobiling, ice-skating, sleigh rides, snowshoe walks, and plenty of slope side activities. If you’d prefer to revel in the festive cheer, head on down to the ever popular Krupowki street and get lost in the maze of cafes, restaurants, bars, carnival attractions, and the various street performers. This evening we head to a local traditional restaurant for an included delicious dinner followed by optional drinks.
Day 5: Zakopane to Budapest
This morning we traverse the Tatra Mountains as we make our way into Slovakia, with a stop at Donovaly for lunch and an optional husky sled ride whilst at this magnificent ski location. We continue onwards to the Hungarian border and make our arrival to Budapest in the afternoon before checking into the hostel. This evening we offer an unforgettable optional cruise of the Danube river with an included dinner, drinks, and dancing. After dinner join your guide for a night on the town and experience one of Budapest’s unique cultural experiences: the ruin bars.
Day 6: Budapest
Head out and see the massive neo-Gothic Parliament building, the biggest building in Hungary, and its many sights within. Visit the Castle District and see the incredible architecture on display or head to the UNESCO-listed site of Andrassy ut and onto Heroes Square. This is your chance to skate on Europe’s largest ice skating rink, or spend the day exploring the festive markets and relaxing in the local cafes and restaurants. Later, meet with your guide for a relaxing optional evening excursion to soak away life’s stresses in the healing thermal baths.
Day 7: Budapest to Vienna
We say goodbye to quirky Budapest as we board our comfy coach for the next leg of our journey as we head to Vienna. This afternoon we stop for lunch in Slovakia’s capital city of Bratislava. Check out some of the sights and grab a bite to eat before we continue on to Austria. We arrive in the Austrian capital of Vienna this afternoon and before checking into the hostel we first tour the famous Schnapps Museum to learn more about and sample the multitude of flavours of this interesting spirit. This evening we have a walking tour of Vienna to showcase this amazing city’s features with the option of enjoying a delicious traditional schnitzel for dinner.
Day 8: Vienna
See the spectacle of the Lipizzaner horses at the Hofreitschule, visit one of the hundreds of local museums or see the home of Beethoven and visit Mozart’s memorial, see the majesty of the imperial palaces of the Hofburg and Schonbrunn which houses the world’s oldest zoo, the Tiergarten Schonbrunn, or simply spend a day in the city breathing in the eclectic atmosphere of this cultural mecca. This evening head out for some delicious traditional fare and drinks in this vibrant capital.
Day 9: Vienna to Cesky Krumlov
This morning we depart Vienna and head to Cesky Krumlov. En route we have a photo stop at the historic Melk Abbey, high above the town of Melk, overlooking the Danube river. This Benedictine Abbey houses the remains of several members of the House of Babenberg. Later we arrive in the bohemian treasure of Cesky Krumlov. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy as you wish, see the massive Cesky Krumlov Castle which is the second largest castle complex in the Czech Republic, check out the UNESCO-listed Old Town and take in the unique atmosphere, or just relax in one of the many fine local establishments. This evening you meet with your guide and head off to sample some Czech specialities at the local beer hall.
Day 10: Cesky Krumlov to Prague
We say goodbye to one fairy tale town and head to another, the Czech capital of Prague. Upon arrival we will have an orientation walk to stretch our legs and highlight the sights around town. After we check into the hostel this afternoon there is some time for you to explore the city or recharge your batteries for the night ahead. This evening we have an optional dinner at the hostel before heading out to embrace the coming of the New Year as we watch the fireworks from Charles Bridge as their fiery demise paints the night sky above us. Spend the rest of the year partying up a storm, lost in the amazing atmosphere of Prague’s vibrant nightlife.
Day 11: Prague
