11 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Rome
Your adventure begins today in the beautiful Italian capital of Rome! Check in and take some time to relax by the pool before our included walking tour this evening. This is a relaxed-pace tour over 4 hours, taking us to see all the best spots. Marvel at the great palaces, ornate fountains, beautiful piazzas, and historical monuments in a city with a unique depth of culture rarely seen elsewhere in the world. After the tour, when you’ve worked up an appetite, make your way to Trastevere, one of Rome’s most charming areas. It is filled with narrow, cobbled streets and piazzas, with a small village vibe. This is where you can find Rome’s most traditional eateries and wine bars.
Day 2: Rome to Florence
Enjoy some breakfast before we make our way through the Tuscan countryside towards our stunning destination of Florence, with a brief stop in the medieval town of Orvieto. Later, we’ll have a proper stop for lunch in the UNESCO-listed city of Siena before making our arrival in Florence mid-afternoon. Before arriving to our hostel we will make a photo stop at Piazza Michelangelo, one of the best lookouts for a stunning view of Florence. After check-in, head out and explore the wonders and history of the city and discover some of the most magnificent architecture and sculptures the world has to offer. Don’t miss the Duomo, Dante’s House and Piazza Signoria! For some great dinner options, check out the Sant’Ambrogio area where you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants. Breakfast included
Day 3: Florence
Head out into the heart of this Italian treasure and visit the Uffizi Gallery and Accademia (make sure to book well in advance), one of Florence’s numerous magnificent museums, Santa Maria del Fiore and admire the gorgeous Ponte Vecchio. Let your stomach guide you, and take a visit to the San Lorenzo food market, followed by a stroll along the River Po for incredible sunset views. Breakfast included
Day 4: Florence
Do something a little different today! If it takes your fancy, you can travel with us to the Tuscan countryside to sample some local wines and enjoy the views, or hop on a local train and head to the nearby town of Pisa to see the iconic leaning tower. If you feel like sampling some of the best cuisine Florence has to offer, head to a local trattoria and try out the bistecca alla Fiorentina: arguably the best steak in Europe! Breakfast included
Day 5: Florence to La Spezia
It’s time to say addio to Florence. Board the comfy coach and settle in for the journey to the picturesque La Spezia! Upon arrival later this morning, take some time to freshen up and catch an afternoon train to Vernazza. Soak up the sun and spend a couple of hours sightseeing and swimming, before our included picnic dinner. If you’re planning a big day of hiking and swimming tomorrow, make sure you relax tonight and recharge the batteries. Breakfast included Dinner included
Day 6: La Spezia
Rise and shine, it’s time to make the most the day and start train-hopping through the Cinque Terre National Park! Load up on breakfast and get the energy levels up as you’ve got three towns that are definitely worth a visit: Vernazza, Corniglia, and Riomaggiore. Take your time, and cool off from the heat with some swims along the way. We include the Cinque Terre hiking pass for you, so you’re free to hike around as you please! Make sure that camera is fully charged, as you’ll be seeing a lot of picture-perfect spots. Breakfast included
Day 7: La Spezia to Lauterbrunnen
This morning we depart La Spezia, so kick back and relax as the coach winds its way through the stunning Italian countryside into the beautiful splendour of the Swiss Alps.
