9 Day Itinerary

Best of the West 9 day itinerary

Day 1

Los Angeles to Las Vegas

It’s time to say hello to your new Busabout family, as you’re about to embark on an epic adventure together! Once we’ve all gotten acquainted, we’ll begin our journey from LA and travel through the incredible Mojave Desert, with a landscape like no other. This afternoon, we’ll make our arrival into our destination for the night – viva Las Vegas! Feel free to wander and explore at your own pace, or check out some of the famous casinos and hotels, before we meet up for a drink. Together we’ll visit a buzzing rooftop bar, and let the partying begin!

Day 2

Las Vegas

Spend today in the City of Sin however you please! Take in the famous casinos and wander your way down The Strip. There are a tonne of attractions and sights to see during the day, so allow plenty of time to explore. If you want to check out an older side of Vegas, head to Fremont Street. If you’re a fan of museums, don’t miss the Mob Museum which documents the history of the Mafia in Vegas. When you’re hungry, try an In-N-Out Burger if you haven’t already, and get tickets for a show tonight! The choices are endless.

Day 3

Las Vegas to Williams

Heard of Route 66? Of course you have! Well today, we’ll be cruising along this famous highway enjoying the scenery from on-board our comfy coach. When our stomachs start to rumble, we’ll stop for some lunch in Kingman before continuing to the historic town of Seligman. Grab some pictures of the iconic road stop shops like the Snow Cap Drive-In, Old Richfield Service Station and the Historic Seligman Sundries. Then it’s time to drive our last leg for the day to Williams where we’ll arrive mid-afternoon. This small town is nestled in the pine country of Arizona, and retains the Route 66 vibe. Visit Pete’s Route 66 Gas Station Museum, featuring a huge collection of highway memorabilia.

Day 4

Grand Canyon

Rise and shine, we’re getting up bright and early to make the most of our day visiting the jaw-dropping Grand Canyon! This is one experience you’re never going to forget. After a short drive, we’ll make our arrival and you have the day to check out the site however you please. If you want to see the canyon from above, there are scenic helicopter rides available! Or to really immerse yourself in the outdoor experience, get your hiking boots on and make your way into the canyon itself. There are numerous viewpoints and lookouts, so make sure you have your camera ready. Later on this evening, meet up with your Busabout crew and enjoy watching the sunset with one of the most incredible views in the world.

Day 5

Williams to Monument Valley to Durango

We hop aboard our trusty coach early this morning to make tracks towards Monument Valley. We’ll be making plenty of stops along the main road of the Valley to make sure you can get all those photos you’ve been wanting. You’re sure to recognise locations from the film sets of Forrest Gump and Back to the Future 3! This evening we’ll arrive in Durango, a former railway town that attracts plenty of visitors with its ‘Old West’ feel. It’s very near the famous “Four Corners”, where the states of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado meet. The evening is yours to spend however you like, so why not head out and grab a meal with your new travel mates and visit a local bar?

Day 6

Durango to Santa Fe

We don’t depart Durango until after lunch time, so make the most of the morning! There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied, like white water rafting, or horseback riding for those who want to feel like a true cowboy. Our next stop is Santa Fe, where we will check-in and make ourselves at home before deciding how to spend the afternoon. You can explore to your heart’s content, so get out there and see the pueblo adobe architecture with its heavy Spanish influence. Tonight, you could visit the interactive art space “Meow Wolf”, created by Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin!

Day 7

Santa Fe to Amarillo

With a couple more hours to explore Santa Fe this morning, tick off any other must-see sights. We’ll then depart and rejoin the famous Route 66 at the small outpost of Clines Corners to continue our journey. You’ll spot plenty of vintage diners and motels as we pass Santa Rosa, and we’ll stop to grab a photo at the Route 66 halfway point. We’ll stop at Cadillac Ranch, an incredible public art installation made up of 10 junkyard Cadillacs that are half-buried into the ground. This location has national recognition after being featured in music videos and films, and we’ll have orange spray paint for you to decorate the caddys in true Busabout style. Once we make it to our accommodation in Amarillo, it’s time to get out and experience Texas – and what better way to do that than with a 72-ounce (2kg) steak challenge? If you finish it within an hour, the very big meal is free!

Day 8

Amarillo to Fort Worth

Onwards to our final destination, Fort Worth. Arriving mid-afternoon, we’ll spend a bit of time in the town before checking in to our accommodation. Then get ready to spend the rest of the day as you wish! This town is fiercely proud of its cowboy heritage, and it was the centre of the state’s cattle industry for a long time. The Stockyards National Historic District is a must-visit destination, and you’ll see horse-and-cart rides and cowboys strolling the streets, making you feel like in a movie. Tonight we highly recommend visiting the world’s largest honky-tonk, Billy Bob’s Texas! Learn to line dance, and grab a drink from one of the bar stations – there are over 30 to choose from, and the building can hold 6,000 people! So dance until the early hours, and enjoy the last night of the adventure with your Busabout family.

Day 9

Fort Worth

All good things must come to an end, including this incredible adventure. Say farewell to the group as the tour wraps up this morning. We hope to see you again!
