8 Day Itinerary

Baltic Highlights 8 day full itinerary breakdown and route map

Day 1

It’s time to kick off the adventure! After meeting at our hostel, we’ll head out to explore the Old Town and its medieval architecture, numerous churches and the city walls. Make sure you check out the iconic wooden houses of the harbour district of Kalamaja with your guide on the included orientation walk! This trendy area is located just off the bay, and offers plenty of dining and entertainment options. Immerse yourself in this amazing city and join us on our optional dinner in an Estonian cellar bar.

Day 2

Tallinn to Riga

Today we head to Latvia, with a swim stop at the seaside town of Parnu, on the Gulf of Riga. Enjoy the sea breeze before we make tracks to the Latvian border. As we approach Riga we have a stop at the Sigulda bobsleigh track that was used as a training ground for Soviet-era bobsledders and lugers! Later we’ll arrive into Riga, ready to join the fantastic Busabout guide for an orientation walk of the capital to highlight some of the must-see sights in the country's largest city. Check out the towering Freedom Monument near the Old Town, the incredibly ornate architecture of the House of Blackheads. Tonight we have an optional traditional Latvian dinner at the famous Riga Restaurant. Make sure you save some energy for tonight, as we head out to experience the nightlife with a pub crawl!

Day 3

Riga to Vilnius

Next stop: Lithuania. En route, we’ll stop off at the ruins of Trakai Island Castle, which was destroyed by the Teutons in the late 1300s. The castle was never rebuilt and the remains are housed within the church. We’ll arrive into the Lithuanian capital city, Vilnius, this afternoon. After getting checked in, take some time to unwind and relax. There’ll be plenty of time to explore tomorrow! This evening, enjoy an optional Lithuanian feast, followed by an outing to explore the city’s local breweries and bars.

Day 4

Vilnius awaits today, so join your guide for an orientation walk of Lithuania’s largest city. We’ll meander through the remaining battlements of the castle at Gediminas’ Tower, then explore the Gate of Dawn. Next, we’ll head to the neighbourhood of Uzupis: a popular area with local artists, renowned for its bohemian atmosphere. The rest of the day is yours to do with as you will. Today’s your chance to soak as much of this vibrant city’s baroque architecture and complex history as possible! Join us tonight for an optional dinner where you’ll be able to sample zeppelins - a traditional dish, then spend the rest of the night exploring Vilnius’ emerging nightlife

Day 5

Vilnius to Warsaw

This morning, we’ll board our coach and set a course for the Polish border, waving Vilnius a contented farewell. Kick back and start dreaming of pierogis as we traverse the gorgeous Baltic countryside. This afternoon we’ll arrive in Warsaw, on the banks of the Vistula River. Join us on an orientation walk and see the tremendously varied architectural styles of the city’s historic Old Town. Later, we’ll turn our pierogi dreams into pierogi realities as we sit down for an optional polish dinner! Polish vodka is one of a kind and tonight we will visit a cool vodka bar to sample it.

Day 6

It’s your free day to explore this magnificent town. Climb atop the Academy of Culture and Sciences for amazing views over the town, visit the Uprising Museum or one of the city’s royal palaces, and go for a stroll along the Royal Route. To get fully immersed in Polish culture we highly recommend you check out a milk bar for lunch and join the optional pierogi class at the hostel tonight. However you wish to spend the rest of the day, just make the most of it and enjoy yourself before our final full day tomorrow.

Day 7

Warsaw to Berlin

It’s time to make tracks and hit the road, on our way to the super hip and diverse German capital of Berlin. Catch up on some sleep on the coach as we cruise through the countryside and make our arrival later this afternoon. Tonight’s our last night together, so we’ll head out for an optional dinner in a restaurant where you pour your own beer, followed by a tour of Berlin’s top sights.

Day 8

Check-out is after breakfast. If you’re joining us on our Hop-on Hop-off network, the next stop is Munich via Prague!
