Must See & Do in South Lake Tahoe

The City

South Lake Tahoe is the largest town around Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in the world. Divided by the California-Nevada state line, the lake features deep blue water and beautiful views of mountains covered with fir and pine trees. It’s popular among fans of the outdoors for its wealth of activities, including miles of beaches for those that are happy to just lean back and relax. On the Nevada side of town, a number of casinos dot the main road - making it a haven for those looking for a world-class gambling experience!

Top things to see
Hiking There are numerous hiking trails of varying difficulties around the lake. Pack a lunch and have fun! Casinos Get over to the Nevada side of the border and roll dice the at one of the many glitzy casinos available. Heavenly Mountain Gondola A 3.8km scenic ride to the top of Heavenly Mountain for the best panoramic views of the lake. Swimming Get refreshed or lay in the sun at one of the ten great beaches on the California side of South Lake Tahoe. Tahoe Queen Enjoy some of the best views of the surrounding mountains aboard this beautiful paddle wheeler!
FOODS TO TRY:

Pancakes at Heidi’s Pancake House
Considered by some to be the Holy Grail of American breakfasts, there’s a reason they have so many restaurants dedicated to this classic. The usual choice would be a full stack of buttermilk pancakes, but hey, go wild!

HIDDEN GEM:

Emerald Bay
If you’re looking for a bit of adventure, pack a picnic, rent a bike, and cycle to Emerald Bay. Once there you’ll be able to take on one of the many available hikes to get an impressive view of the bay and the iconic Fannette Island - the only island in Lake Tahoe!
