Must See & Do in San Francisco

The City

There’s a certain magic in San Francisco, the source of which we can’t quite put our finger on. It’s probably a combination; the birthplace of the hippie movement, the stunning bay views of the Pacific, the revolution hotspot of the Castro district, the crooked Victorian rooflines, the quirky art and café scenes, and of course the epic landmarks (heard of The Golden Gate Bridge?). This hilly city is waiting to be explored – by iconic cable car, or on foot for those who don’t mind getting the heart rate up. Take your time to wander and absorb all of the quirks and alternative vibes that this ultra-hip city has to offer!

Top things to see
Chinatown This is the oldest and most established Chinatown in the United States. The best place to get lost! Haight Ashbury The ultimate hipster district, full of vintage clothing shops, quirky art galleries, endless cafes and record stores. This is where the hippie movement began in the 60s! Alcatraz Make sure you book early (we’re talking weeks in advance) so you don’t miss out on a tour of this infamous prison. The Golden Gate Bridge You can walk or cycle across the colossal bridge – just make sure you wear plenty of layers to protect you against the notoriously strong winds! Pier 39 Waterfront views, sea lions, video arcade games, endless shopping, and fresh seafood restaurants.
FOODS TO TRY:

Egg Custard Tarts
Head to Chinatown and get a few of these from The Golden Gate Bakery. Flaky, creamy and buttery, you’re going to wish you’d bought more.

HIDDEN GEM:

Mission Murals
In the Mission district you can find plenty of colourful outdoor artworks that’ll brighten up your Insta feed. Clarion Alley is a highlight, located between 17th and 18th Street, and Mission Street and Valencia Street.
