Haro, La Rioja, Spain
If you think La Tomatina is messy, then wait till you hear about la Batalla del Vino - Wine Battle! In late June, the village of Haro, Spain celebrates this unique festival in style. Instead of drinking and savoring red wine, the people of La Rioja region prefer to splash it all over the place and everyone gets wet, sticky and they all turn into a beautiful shade of purple! Revelers gather where wine pours onto the crowd and the whole town gets to frolic in wine! What’s not to love?!

Day 1: Haro
The first day starts by meeting your Busabout Festivals team and checking into your accommodation. Get ready for a pintxos crawl in one of the most popular places in Spain and taste these culinary morsels of art. Your Guide will take you to the best local bars where you'll eat as the locals do. Time to also try some Spanish wine. Haro is the most important wine area within the most important wine region in Spain, so say no more!
After you fill up your stomach you might want to party with the locals in the main square and prepare yourself for the battle that awaits…
F: Get stuck into the local pintxos (tapas) culture
Day 2: Haro
Let the war begin! Your Guide will lead you onto the battlefield with a walk along the most famous vineyards of the Rioja region. Do not drink all your wine before you reach the battlefield… spare some ammunition! Get your weapons (water pistols, buckets, plastic bottles... anything!) ready and start the wine fight! Only the strong remain white...
We head back to Haro following the parade of tractors, cars and people covered in wine. You will definitely need a shower and perhaps a traditional Spanish siesta to recharge your batteries! More pintxos and wine (this time to be drank!) and then head to the main square and party until…whenever you want - it’s Spain! (B)
H: Be part of a truly local Spanish fiesta
F: Chill out in the swimming pool
