  • TRAVEL CREDIT FAQS

    Last updated: 17 June 2020

    Why are trips being suspended?

The decision to suspend trips is not something we would ever take lightly. We came to this decision in accordance with WHO guidelines and government advisories across the world. In light of official advice, it became clear that the best way to ensure the wellbeing of our travellers and staff was to suspend selected Europe, Asia and Ireland operations, as per the Suspended Departures section above.

My trip is suspended, what happens next?

Our team are currently working to contact all travellers who are booked on one of the suspended trips. If you booked through a travel agent please make contact with them directly regarding your booking. Passengers with trips impacted by the suspension* will receive a full credit of monies paid to use on any future Busabout trip in 2020, 2021 or 2022, anywhere in the world. Alternatively, we have just released a wide range of dates for 2021, across a number of our trips and can happily re-book you for a 2021 date, retaining all your current discounts. If you booked a Tomorrowland package, your trip will automatically be transferred to the respective 2021 Tomorrowland dates (15 July and 22 July 2021).

    *excluding Tomorrowland packages.

I’m not travelling until later in the year, what are my options?

If your trip has not been suspended then it is currently scheduled to run as planned, however we will continue to monitor the advice from WHO and global government bodies carefully to ensure we are acting responsibly and in accordance with these guidelines. Any additional changes to planned Busabout trip departures will be advised on our Travel Updates page as soon as the information is available.

    Can I reschedule my trip?

If you do want to reschedule your trip, to give you more flexibility we’ve temporarily changed the terms of our cancellation policy. This means you have even more time to make decisions about your future travel plans without worrying about increasing penalties. If you do not wish to reschedule your trip, you will receive a full credit of monies paid to use on any future Busabout trip in 2020, 2021 or 2022.

As our reservations team are currently experiencing a high volume of calls and emails due to the suspension of selected trips (check the Suspended Departures tab for details), we would ask that if you are departing on an unaffected date, to hold off from contacting us regarding your booking until 45 - 30 days before scheduled departure.

Are there fees associated with changing my trip?

There are no fees to move your booking to another Busabout trip or departure date. As long as you reschedule your trip at least 30 days before departure there will be no cancellation penalties or fees. You’ll only ever need to pay the difference in price for the re-booked trip, if applicable. If the re-booked trip is cheaper than the trip fare you’ve already paid then you’ll be refunded the difference.

    Who can I talk to?

Did you book with a Travel Agent? If so, your Travel Agent may have their own policy regarding your booking. Please make contact with your Travel Agent regarding any changes to your booking or for details of your credit. Your Travel Agent will be able to speak directly with us about your booking changes.

If you booked via the Busabout website, or with one of our expert team over the phone, we are on hand to provide help and make changes to your booking.

  • HOP-ON HOP-OFF NETWORK SUSPENDED UNTIL 2021

This is an important update for all guests travelling on the Europe Hop-on Hop-off Travel Network with Busabout between 01 May and 08 October 2020.

We've made the difficult decision to suspend our European Hop-on Hop-off network for 2020. Our guiding principle is reliable and secure travel, and we cannot guarantee you this during the COVID-19 outbreak. Our unique network requires access between countries so that we can offer you flexibility and choice. We now know that many of your unique itineraries (especially the longer ones) will be impossible to service at this time.

If you are meant to be travelling with Busabout on a Hop-on Hop-off Pass in 2020:

    • And booked with us directly, we will be contacting you via email, so please check your inbox for updates to your booking.
    • And booked with a travel agent, please speak to them directly about your trip, as they may have their own policy regarding your booking.

Understandably our Reservations teams are working really hard to assist all of our guests during this unprecedented time. Please be advised that we will be prioritising guests who have been affected by the May 2020 trip suspensions first. Your patience during this time will be greatly appreciated. We will assist you as soon as possible.
