Travellers like us could cross the planet a hundred times and never run out of beautiful things to see. From mountain ranges to desert sands, unique, beautiful views are one of the best reasons to hit the open road.
No matter where you go in the world, though, coastlines are always at the very top of the beauty charts. There’s nothing better than kicking back with a cocktail to watch the sun setting over turquoise waters. Or, for that matter, watching the rains come in over a stormy Atlantic seascape. The coast is always a great sight, whatever the weather.
In this post, we’re paying homage to some of the world’s most spectacular coastlines. Grab your swimmers and get ready to dive in!
North Queensland, Australia
Australia is filled with superb shorelines, which is why it's frequented by tourists all year, every year. Head on over to the Great Barrier Reef and see for yourself. It’s the world’s largest coral reef with 900 charming islands. It’s even larger than the Great Wall Of China! Flourishing wildlife also draws tourists to this part of the world with colourful land and sea animals that occupy the areas.
There aren’t many places in the world where you can see mountains crashing majestically into the ocean. Croatia, though, is one of those places. Couple that with almost perfect weather for most of the year, crystal blue waters and gorgeous medieval cities and you’ve got all of the ingredients for an incredible island hopping adventure. Croatia is a well-known destination for sailing holidays and partygoers but don’t forget to mix in a bit of cultural time on your visit! Dubrovnik has an interesting history that rewards curious minds.
The Samui Archipelago, Thailand
Southern Thailand’s Gulf has wonderful coastlines for days, with around 40 remote islands, all dotted together in close proximity. These islands are otherwise known as the Samui Archipelago, with the main islands Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao being the most inhabited by tourists and locals. The bright blue seaside, palm trees and generally calm way of life is a delightful way to spend a few weeks of relaxation in the sun.
The West Coast, California
There are 840 miles of epic coastline and beaches throughout the West Coast. Take a trip to California for an adventure across the best beaches the region has to offer. The state is world-famous for its beach culture, with surfers and partiers dotting the shores from Santa Monica to Mission Beach. The weather is almost always perfect, too. They don’t call it the Golden State for nothing! If you’re heading to the USA anytime soon, you can’t miss out on a visit.
Piha Beach, New Zealand
There are plenty of reasons to visit this beautiful country. However, with a whopping 15,000 km of coastlines and deep blue oceans, vital wildlife and beaches, the coast is bound to be a serious draw. The fascinating Bay of Islands offers visitors a chance at a true seaside adventure as they explore over 144 subtropical islands. See the famous Motukokako Island and learn about the history of this hugely significant area. On your visit, don’t miss the amazing coastal experiences of dolphin watching and sea kayaking.
