Get all the red, delicious madness of the festival, a chance to explore beautiful Valencia, and three nights in a central hostel.

The Spanish have a talcum-powder party, a baby-jumping festival, and a funny-face pulling contest. None of them quite as mad as 20,000 people hurling thousands of kilos of tomatoes at each other in a tiny rural village. Get all the red, delicious madness of the festival, a chance to explore beautiful Valencia, and three nights in a central hostel for what is the most memorable festival Spain has to offer.

We spend 4 days exploring Spain. We visit Valencia, Buñol.

4 Day Itinerary

La Tomatina - Hostel 4 day itinerary

Day 1

Valencia

Your adventure begins in the capital of Spanish ancient history. Originally founded as a Roman town, Valencia is now the third largest city in Spain and home to some spectacular views, historical monuments and architecture. Check-in at the hostel at 2pm, then head out into the city with the guide for some shopping (a great time to pick up some essentials for the battle to come). Since we are in the city, a pub crawl is in order. Join your fellow travellers for a cold drink and get to know each other.

Day 2

Valencia

Today there is an optional trip to the majestic Peniscola, known as the “City in the Sea”. It is joined to the mainland by a narrow strip and is a coastal fort featuring a lighthouse built on a high rocky outlook, and castle built by the Knights Templar in the late 13th century. There are also public buses available to transport you to the local beaches or to return to the city for some more shopping and to enjoy some tapas with a few beers. Whilst you’re out, if you’re craving seafood, indulge in an authentic paella. Ask your crew about the optional flamenco show on offer tonight, as a folkloric traditional dance this is a truly unmissable Spanish experience.

Day 3

Valencia to Bunol to Valencia

The biggest food fight in the world begins with your transfer to the town of Bunol. Upon check-in you will receive your exclusive Busabout T-shirt and the guide will ensure you get right into the action & soak up the atmosphere. Our Busabout crew will be on hand to assist with anything you may need. The festivities begin with the Palo Jabon, which is essentially a greased up pole topped with a Spanish Ham, which the brave (and silly!) attempt to retrieve. Once the dust has settled, all tomatoey hell breaks loose! After the battle, jump in the river to get the red off you with the kind assistance of the locals. We return to Valencia to kick off the official La Tomatina after party with your fellow tomato throwers!

Day 4

Valencia

Enjoy your final breakfast before departure. We hope to see you again! Those of you still craving a fiesta can take a ferry or flight to Ibiza and join us on our Ibiza Blast.
