Proving that a day can last a lifetime, the shortest of our adventures offers  some amazing highlights that will give you memories and facebook friends forever.  Here are 3 of the best…

Italian Highlights

POMPEII:
One of the worlds most famous archaeological sights; a guided tour of this buried city offers an incredible insight into how life was lived in Roman times.  Visit the remains of villas, temples, the amphitheatre and even a brothel and gaze upon the frescos and casts of buried victims as your history lessons come to life before your eyes.
LA GROTTA AZZURA, CAPRI:
The Italians would call it mozzafiato, but its breathtaking in any language.  One of Capri’s most famous sights, its emblem and the inspiration for writers and artists alike, the Blue Grotto is incredible!  Previously feared as it was thought to be home to witches and sea monsters it is definitely the most magical place on Capri and accessible only by boat.  To get there jump on the boat trip around Capri island (just 14€ for two hours plus 10€ grotto entrance fee) and enjoy the sights as you cut through the waves to the grotto.  Getting inside is an event in itself as you must disembark and hop down into a little paddle boat steered by opera singing boatmen!  They will paddle you to the entrance of the Grotto, which is so low that you have to lie down in the boat and wait for the tide to help push you inside.  As the looming rock face passes above, a cavernous watery world opens up in front of you, the stunning electric blue of the water inside lighting up the entire cavern with a sapphire glow.  Impossible to put in to words, this is something you truly have to see to believe.
WINE TASTING IN RAVELLO:
The sweetly named Wine and Drugs is the location for our wine tasting in Ravello.  Owned by the lovely Branko and Reno, this little shop is heaven for all those who like wine and has the most amazing, taste-bud-popping balsamic vinegar in the world.  Sample the most gorgeous wines of the region, learn about their background and creation and maybe even buy a few bottles for home.  With prices ranging from €35 - €85 + for a bottle of wine, and with the balsamic vinegar checking in at a cool  €55 its not cheap, but it is definitely money very very very well spent!

Italian Souvenirs

LEATHER SANDALS:
Not just for gladiators, leather sandals are made by hand throughout the region and can be bought in Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri and even made to your exact specifications while you wait.  They come in a million colours and styles and you are sure to find a pair in a price range that suits you – practical and beautiful, they are a fab souvenir!
LIMONCELLO:
Alcohol, lemons and tradition all mixed up in a beautifully shaped bottle for a bargain price – wicked!
WINE:
not that I’m biased, but on this adventure you can’t really go wrong with a nice bottle or two.
PAPER:
‘Arte e Carta’ in Ravello offer a wide range of gorgeous handmade paper products including writing paper, photo albums and prints of local buildings, villas, paintings and scenes from Ravello’s history – unusual and beautiful souvenirs.
