On the last Wednesday in August each year, the inconsequential town of Buñol holds the worlds largest organised tomato fight. Buñol is located in the region known as the "Communidad de Valencia", 30 miles west of Spain's third largest city Valencia.

Day 1 - Aug 24th
Passengers can make their own way to Valencia. There are scheduled Busabout coaches from Barcelona to Valencia on this day, available to book for passengers with western loop & flexi passes.
Check into your hostel from 2pm. Busabout's Festival Guide will check passengers into their accommodation and arrange a welcome meeting to explain trip details and for you to meet your fellow passengers. At 3pm your Guide will lead you in a city orientation walk of Valencia. Your Busabout fashion enthusiast will take you shopping for your La Tomatina outfit - the theme for this tour is dress ridiculous! Then it's time to visit many of Valencia’s sights – take a bike tour, or visit the infamous Cathedral where the Holy Grail is allegedly held.
Tonight begin the festivities by meeting loads of your fellow travellers with the Pre Tomatina Party.
Day 2 - Aug 25th
An early shuttle from Valencia to Buñol - sit back and relax. Your guide will enlighten you about hte past and present of Bunol and the crazy festival of La Tomatina. We arrive in Buñol in good time for the fiesta. Immerse yourself in the party atmosphere of thousands and find your best vantage point! Watch the locals and tourists alike scarmble up the greasy pole, trying their best to reach the jamon serrano (ham placed at the top of the pole) - a much sort after prize, however it's not been reached for a few years!
Let the festival begin! Dump trucks enter the town's narrow street dropping off thousands of overripe, big fat and juicy tomatoes, perfect for throwing at each other. The Tomato fight lasts for an hour leaving a new shade of red to the town. Cleaning trucks roll into town to clean everyone and everything down. Use the facilities provided by the trucks or head down to the river and use the shower/water taps provided there. Locals also get on-board pulling out their hoses cleaning festival goers as they pass by. Once you are cleaned off, head on back to the coach and get changed into your fresh, clean clothes. We board the coach back to our hotel in Valencia for a well earned siesta!
Later there is a free shuttle to the America's Cup port. Visit the port area of Valencia, where the America's cup headquarters were and possibly will be for the next America's Cup. Hit the beach, play a game of footy, grab a bite to eat or explore on your own. Later, your Guide will take you out for a night on the town. Visit great local bars and finish your La Tomatina Festival, partying the night away till the sun comes up.
Day 3 - Aug 26th
After breakfast the day is yours to explore Valencia.
If you are departing Valencia with Busabout, please meet your guide in the reception of the Busabout Explorer accommodation.
