Amsterdam is most definitely in the world's top 5 New Year celebration parties. The biggest party in Amsterdam is easy to find: it's in the streets! And we will be there with the locals to see in the New Year, Dutch-style. Your Guide will give you a crash course in Dutch so that you can pronounce ‘gelukkig nieuwjaar’ ('prosperous new year') to the locals in Dam Square, the focus for the festivities and set up with live shows and parties. It’s electric with travellers and locals alike all up for a party to remember. As the clock strikes twelve, the city erupts with the light and sound of fireworks!

Day 1: 30th December

Welcome to your New Year's party Amsterdam style! Kick back and relax on the way to Amsterdam over the English Channel and get to know the people who will be next to you when the clock strikes midnight on the 31st. You will arrive into Amsterdam in the early evening and then meet in the hostel bar for a welcome drink and an awesome dinner on us. After dinner our Guide will be taking you on an orientation walk as we're only a stone's throw from all the action in Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein and the infamous Red Light District in the oldest part of the city. Your Guide will be sure to point out all the best spots to sample the delights of the 'Dam!

Day 2: New Year’s Eve

Today is the perfect chance to explore this awesome city before the party gets started and what better way to cruise around town than the local way – by bike! Enjoy our free bike tour out to a traditional cheese and clog making factory in the countryside riding down the banks of the river Amstel or around the city. This afternoon you'll have some free time to check out the big sites in town too. Maybe a visit to the Heineken Experience to learn about (and try!) the famous Dutch Nectar, or a glimpse at Van Gogh's work at his nearby museum or a visit to the infamous Der Wallen Red Light District to see the city's alternative side maybe? Don't miss our free Canal Cruise around the city too to complete an action packed day.

However, it's only just begun... Tonight, your Guide will lead you out to start the New Years Eve parties. Heading out from the Hostel, you'll no doubt visit a few drinking dens en-route to the main venue for the night's revelry - Museumsplein with its Fireworks, flirting and firm handshakes when midnight comes!

Day 3: New Year’s Day

‘No’ your head is not being squeezed in a vice - it's the morning after the night before. What better than your first breakfast of the year Dutch-style at our hostel. Take it easy today and give yourself a break, nothing too strenuous is on the cards we promise. Your Guide will give you the option to join them this afternoon around town. Maybe a good day to check out the Anne Frank House, Amsterdam's most popular tourist attraction (without the usual crowds today) or perhaps the notorious Sex Museum near Der Wallen? Or go souvenir shopping down the Damrak high street – it's your day to chill out.

Day 4: 2nd January

We will say a tearful goodbye to Amsterdam and the Netherlands and head back on our coach to London via the ferry. Our coach is equipped with DVDs and screens and a multi-channel audio system so there is plenty to keep you entertained on the way home. Remember to stock up on cheap European delights whilst on the ferry.
