Q:  Where do I go to book pre and post accommodation for my Croatian Sailing Adventure in Split?
A:  Accommodation bookings can be made via Mybusabout. Click here for more details.

Q:  What day & time does the Croatian Sailing Adventure depart?
A:  All boats depart on Saturdays at 1pm, however check-in will commence at 11am.  It should be possible to fly in from London on the same day, however we do recommend you fly in the day before to avoid delayed flights etc.  The airport is about 40mins from Split Harbour by taxi, this should cost around 240 Kuna.  For current exchange rates please click here.

Q:  What time does the Croatian Sailing Adventure finish?
A:  All boats return to Split Harbour on the Friday night and the tour finishes after breakfast on the Saturday morning.  You are free to fly out at any time on Saturday. There are luggage storage facilities in the bus station opposite Split Harbour that charge about €2 per day / per bag.

Q:  What is the difference between 'standard' and  'ensuite' boats?
A:  ‘Ensuite' category boats have private ensuite facilities and are suited to travellers wanting more privacy and comfort.  ‘Standard' category boats have shared bathroom facilities and are better suited to groups, friends and singles. All cabins are twin-share.

Q:  What are the cabin beds like?
A:  All cabins are twin share with two bunk beds.

Q:  What is the difference between above deck cabins and below deck cabins?
A:  Above deck cabins are simply above or on the main deck of the boat. Below deck is in the hull of the boat.  A benefit with the below deck cabins is they are cheaper & they can be cooler as they are at the bottom of the boat.  The big benefit with the above deck cabins is they are on the top of the deck with access out to the ocean & main deck areas, they also have larger windows so they tend to get a little more fresh air.

Q:  How many bathrooms are there on the standard category boats?
A:  On average there are 4 or 5 bathroom/toilets on the standard category boats. You can expect to share with between 4 -5 other guests if you book a standard category cabin.

Q:  Is food included in the price?
A:  Breakfast and lunch is included every day.  Dinner is not included as we encourage you to get out & about in the local port towns that we dock into in the evening to enjoy & experience the local Croatian food and wine -  seafood is a speciality in Croatia!  There is also an optional captains dinner for those who want to eat onboard.

Q:  I am a Vegetarian or have a special meal request, can you cater for me?
A:  We don't cater specifically for vegetarians or travellers with special meal requests. Lunch usually includes soup or pasta as a starter, some meat or fish and vegetables as side dish, salad and desert.  Vegetarians will enjoy larger amounts of vegetables and salads.  At the time of your check-in, please introduce yourself to your cook or waiter or ask our representatives to introduce you to them.  Food is purchased at each Harbour so no need to worry, you will be catered for.

Q:  Do you sail from Island to Island?
A:  Sails do go up on the boats if the winds are good, but the wind in the Adriatic Sea is not reliable enough to allow the boats to keep to our itinerary.  So to enable the boat to keep to our schedule as well as taking in as many Islands as we can we essentially cruise by motor cruiser.

Q:  How do I get to Split?
A:  Easyjet, Wizzair or Croatia Airlines fly into Split on a regular basis from the UK. Many travellers also fly into Ancona and catch the overnight ferry to Split on Friday night at 9pm and arrive Saturday morning at 7am.  You can pre-book your tickets and check the timetable on by clicking here.  Tickets should be about €55 each way.

Q:  I am South African.  How do I get a visa?
A:  Once your booking has been confirmed we will email you your pre-departure documents and you will be able to apply at the Croatian Embassy.  It is a simple formality for the Croatian Embassy to process which rarely encounters problems.  Before you book check with the Croatian Embassy to see how long this process takes.

Q:  Are the crew on-board all Croatian & do they speak English?
A: All our Croatian Sailing Adventures have our guides onboard! The captain and crew are generally all Croatian.

Q:  How many people are on the boats?
A:  It ranges from 20 to 34 people, it all depends on the size of the boats.  The average boat size is around 25.

Q:  What is the average age of the passengers & what nationality are the passengers?
A:  Our average age of passenger is between 18 to 30 years.  However all ages are welcome, we don’t discriminate on age.  Our main passengers are Antipodeans (Australian, New Zealand & South African travellers).  Throw in a few British and Europeans & you have a tour.

Q:  How do I make sure I am on the same boat as my friends?
A:  If you all book together in the same category & cabin class you will be guaranteed to be on the same boat.  If you haven’t done this call or email us here in the Busabout Office to see what we can do.  Nominate a group leader to give us a call, don’t do it in dribs & drabs as it will make it easier & less confusing for both you & your friends & us.

Q:  Where does the boat depart from in Split?
A:  You will find our boats directly to the "town side" of the Split ferry terminal when you arrive, you will literally walk past them when you get off the Jadrolinija lines ferry.  If you are coming to Split Harbour by bus or train you will see the ferry terminal in the harbour. Look out for the Katerina Line sign and our representative will be there to meet you.

Q:  Where does the boat depart from in Dubrovnik?
A:  Our boats depart from Dubrovnik Harbour. Again, all you need to do is look out for the Katarina Lines sign and our representative will be waiting for you from 11am.
