Epic Adventure

All good epics take time: Ben Hur; Gladiator; Star Wars. So does the Busabout Epic Adventure – although how long it takes is up to you.

Travel from the bright lights of Paris down to the Swiss capital Bern and the beautiful Swiss village of Lauterbrunnen, before continuing on to Lucerne (home a clock tower that actually goes off one minute before every other clock tower in Switzerland) and a photo-stop the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein, whose army went off to their last war with 80 men… and came back with 81! Enjoy Bavaria with some time in Munich - where the world’s first ever beer garden awaits – before enjoying a bit of summer tobogganing in the little village of St Johann in Tirol.

Live La Dolce Vita (the good life) in Italia afterwards – although Venice, your first stop, is fairly atypical of what you’ll find in this pazzo (crazy) country! Take that special someone on a gondola ride through Venice’s multitude of canals or just get lost trying to make your way around! Next up is Ancona, a good place for ferries to Croatia and Greece, before heading down to Rome, where ancient ruins, the Vatican City and some of the craziest driving you’d ever want to see await! After Rome there’s a photo-stop in the Umbrian town of Orvieto – home to a cathedral that will fill your camera’s memory card – before moving onto Siena and Florence, two old Tuscan rivals. Take the chance to get out and explore the Tuscan countryside from either of these beautiful stops.

Onwards to Pisa to take the obligatory cheesy photos manipulating the tower, before going off to explore the five villages of the Cinque Terre (drop-off at La Spezia). Once you’ve dragged yourself from there jump (remember you can stay in each stop as long as you like) back onboard the coach for the trip up to Nice and the French Riviera. After Nice head for Avignon – but don’t miss the chance to check out Villenueve on the other side of the Rhone. Then it’s off to the Catalan capital of Barcelona, host of the 1992 Summer Olympics that helped rejuvenate this mad, mad city! Your last two stops on this Epic Adventure are Valencia – home to an amazing modern complex known as the City of Arts and Sciences – before finishing up in the Spanish capital of Madrid. Of course, having now finished your Epic Adventure you might like to try an Iberian version as well.

The Epic Adventure is valid for the entire 2009 operating season (May to October). Each "sector" may be travelled once and departures from each city are every other day.
