Alpine Pass

Price : Adult $699.00 Student $669.00 USD

As in life, travelling has plenty of highs and lows. So does our Alpine Pass – literal highs and lows, hopefully leading to metaphorical highs!

Beginning in Rome, this flexiroute will take you through the hills of Italy and the French Riviera up to the Alps of Switzerland, across into the highlands of Bavaria and Wutternberg before descending into the lowlands of Paris, Bruges and Amsterdam. Upon leaving Rome you’ll be struck at how rugged the Italian countryside is, especially in our bonus stop of Orvieto and the first drop-off of Siena. Both these towns have beautiful duomos (cathedrals) that will chew up a fair amount of space on the memory card!

Florence is a little less rugged, but packed to the rafters with history! Walk along the Ponte Vecchio and imagine yourself being back in Florence during the Renaissance. After Florence it’s onto La Spezia and the Cinque Terre, where the walks are hard but the rewards spectacular; then once you hit Nice catch up a bus up to the village of Eze, where a couple of members of a famous Irish rock band have places. Back into Italy for the chance to stop in Milan, home of AC Milan and Inter Milan football (soccer) teams before heading through the mountains of Switzerland to Lauterbrunnen, where a trip up the 3454m high Jungfraujoch train station – about as high as you can get by public transport!

Slowly make your way down (for no one can leave Switzerland quickly!) to the picturesque town of Lucerne and its two old bridges over the Reuss; through the Principality of Liechtenstein (the sixth-smallest country in the world and possibly the only one to have twice as many registered companies as people); then ease into Munich and its wonderful, wonderful beerhalls and beer gardens. Stuttgart has some lively venues as well – don’t miss the chance to go somewhere many skip past. Onto the final leg – the lowlands of northern Europe. Spend as long as you need to see all you want in Paris before enjoying the beer, waffles and chocolate of Belgian Bruges and checking out the sheer craziness of Amsterdam’s Red Light District.

The Alpine Pass is valid for the entire 2009 operating season (May to October). Each "sector" may be travelled once and departures from each city are every other day.
